The Museum of English Rural Life have an exhibition on at the moment called Land Ladies: women and farming in England, 1900-1954. It’s on until April 19th.
The boots above were issued by the Women’s Land Army, and they belonged to Doreen Thorpe who served in Hertfordshire, Middlesex, Derbyshire and Yorkshire.
I’m impressed that they’ve survived completely unworn, not least because it means that we can see all the details on the stitched and hobnailed soles. I particularly like the horseshoe heels which I hadn’t seen before.

Baby’s First Dim Sum Furious Shirley
After what has seemed like forever, we are finally all moved into our new place. I still have plenty of boxes left to unpack, artwork to hang, and knick-knacks to arrange,true religion jeans fat girl, but for me that is the fun part of moving. We brought along the training chopsticks Mike bought her [by Combi from ThinkGeek], which she was actually able to pick up food with [but enjoyed just poking holes in it more]. Her favorite part of the meal was the green tea – she loved holding her little tea cup and sipping warm tea. So mature.

Last week my 5 year old son had a friend over. Two boys running out of control in our home. I was impressed with Brooke’s barrel racing. Even if she didn’t have a great run, it is always great to see someone working hard at something they love.

It’s been nearly two years since I moved to the Pacific Northwest, and I have to admit…I’ve never been on a hike.

I’d like to think my excuse is that I lived in the Midwest all of my life and the only “mountains” I hiked were the staircases that lead up to the second level of the local shopping mall.

Starting with the basics…the North Face Tadasana VPR Capri is simple enough that is could be worn for far more than just hiking and the Outdoor Research Radiant LT Zip Top gives me that pop of color I’m looking for!
With the fickle weather in Seattle, it would probably be essential to have a layering piece, and the Marmont Tempo Vest is perfect for anyone’s needs!
Depending on the length of my hike, I would want to bring along some fuel to keep me going, and the Mountain Hardwear backpack could hold just about everything!
Finally, and most importantly, I need to be sure my feet are comfortable. Merrell has always been a trusted brand when it comes to hiking shoes, so to top off my outfit,true religion knock off jeans, I would add a stylish pair of the Siren Sport!
So maybe I will give this hiking thing a shot…and you better believe I’m going to look good while doing it.
